Vitamin D

Vitamin D is the sunshine vitamin. The name describes how this vitamin is formed naturally when the skin is exposed to sunlight. So, many environmental factors influence how much vitamin D our body produces. Like any other vitamin, vitamin D has numerous functions in the body, such as regulation of the development and function of the nervous system (1) and controlling the early and late immune response (2).
