GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is naturally present amino acid found in plants and animals. It is the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter in human brain, which major role is to reduce the excitability of neurons. It can be imagined for example, that GABA works as a “brake” in the brain during stress. So, less GABA more stress and the opposite.
